The SRSI team is excited to introduce our newest member, Brent Vawter, who joins us in the role of Senior Controls Engineer. With his extensive experience and a commitment to excellence, Brent brings a wealth of expertise to our controls department, ensuring our projects continue to thrive.
A Journey of Exploration:
Hailing from the picturesque state of Michigan, Brent’s life has been a journey of exploration. His professional endeavors have taken him across the country, providing him with the unique opportunity to experience the diverse landscapes of the United States. While Michigan remains his home, Brent is open to the prospect of finding a warmer destination to call home in the future.
Discovering the MH Industry:
Brent’s path into the Material Handling (MH) industry was influenced by his passion for growth and hands-on experiences. He transitioned into the industry by taking on a role as a 100% travel Technician, where his responsibilities included the initial power-up and testing of control cabinets. This decision followed his departure from an Automation distributor where he saw limited room for his professional development.
Brent’s Expertise:
In his role as a Senior Controls Engineer, Brent specializes in commissioning projects, ensuring that they come to life seamlessly. His dedication to hands-on involvement during the final stages of projects reflects his commitment to seeing them through to successful completion. Unburdened by family obligations, Brent’s agility in taking on projects nationwide makes him a valuable asset to our team.
Goals at SRSI:
In the short term, Brent is eager to acquaint himself with SRSI’s role within various sectors of the market, from Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) to conveyor systems. He envisions a significant role in the growth of the controls department over the coming years, leveraging his expertise and dedication.
Vision for the MH Industry:
Brent’s insights into the Material Handling industry recognize its evolving landscape. He highlights the challenges faced by many storage and distribution centers, characterized by an overworked and depleting workforce. With the next generation showing reluctance to pursue careers in this field, automation is set to play a pivotal role in sustaining these operations and ensuring employee satisfaction.

What excites Brent most about joining SRSI is the opportunity to return to the “smaller business feel.” At SRSI, the focus is on both the welfare of the employees and the successful execution of projects, creating a balanced environment that fosters professional growth and job satisfaction.

Outside of work, Brent thrives on outdoor activities. Whether he’s casting a line while fishing, carving through the slopes while skiing, or simply immersing himself in the beauty of nature, Brent’s love for the great outdoors aligns seamlessly with his adventurous spirit.
